6B. Do you sell “general cosmetics” or “special cosmetics” in China?

General cosmetics are regular skincare and haircare for adults.

Special cosmetics have efficacy claims, like hair dye, hair perms, anti-freckle and whitening products, sunscreen, and anti-hair loss products; products for children are also classed as special cosmetics.

6C. Are all of the ingredients used in your products on China’s list of accepted ingredients? And did you/your suppliers declare all the ingredients to the Chinese National Medical Products Administration (NMPA)?

Products containing accepted ingredients only can be exempt from pre-market animal testing, products containing unlisted material can’t.

Not having this certificate can mandate pre-market animal testing of the products.

Upcoming safety concerns of a market product can be addressed using animal testing, even though it is unlikely (according to the experts).
